New Bedford – Glenn E. Handy, 55, of New Bedford died at home December 30, 2005 after a long illness. He was the husband of Karen (Cahill) Handy.
Mr. Handy was born in Aberdeen, Maryland, son of Barbara E. (Tripp) Handy of Lakeville, MA and the late William Handy, and resided in the greater New Bedford area most of his life. He was a member of the Acushnet-Wesley United Methodist Church, Acushnet. He had attended the New Bedford Vocational School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a truck mechanic until retiring due to disability in 1978.
In addition to his widow and mother, he is survived by 8 sisters: Patsy A. Hathaway of Edwards, NY, Virginia L. Glass of Lakeville, MA, Priscilla E. Peitrass of Pyrites, NY, Susan J. Wales of Taylors, SC, Mary E. Monjeau of Eden, NC, Candace B. Charest of Wareham, MA, Deborah J. Blaszies of New Bedford and Sally L. Giguere of Tiverton, RI; a brother: William H. Handy of Lakeville; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend:
A memorial service on Monday at 7:00 P.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
Interment on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
