Obituary

FORESTDALE - John D. “Jack” Morgan Jr., of Forestdale, passed away peacefully with his wife and son Craig by his side on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after a lengthy illness.

He was the husband of Phyllis L. Bayer of Forestdale and was the father 4 children including Officer Craig H. Bayer, a member of the Truro Police Dept.

Born in Somerville, son of the late John D. and Mary T. (Laughlin) Morgan Sr., he was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.

Throughout his life, it was Jack's natural inclination to treat all people respectfully and to try and find the good qualities in everyone he met. This was his approach to life especially during the 32 years he served as a police officer for the town of Kingston. During his career as a patrolman he also served as a motorcycle officer, a prosecutor and a detective. Jack lived simply and authentically. His personal sense of integrity and acceptance of others guided his life. It was his personal and professional character that influenced his son Craig to follow him into a career of public service through law enforcement. After retiring from his career as a Kingston Police Officer, Jack worked part time at the Holly Ridge golf course in Sandwich. Truth be told he just continued his lifetime practice of being paid for doing what he enjoyed.

He loved golfing and truly enjoyed the time spent with his friends at the golf course. Jack will be forever remembered for his generosity which gave him joy and for his beautiful nature that gave us joy. He was loyal, patient, and a truly loving soul. He will be dearly missed by those he inspired on a daily basis.

Besides his wife and son Craig of Eastham, he is survived by three other children, Jenna Morgan of Kingston, Jonathan Morgan of Pembroke, and Kyle Morgan of Kingston; three brothers, Ed Morgan of Liverpool, N.Y., Robert Morgan of Pembroke, and William Morgan of Cataula, Ga.; a sister, Linda Stringer of Taunton; several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors were rendered on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Attn: Development (memo line John Morgan), 330 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215
