Michael D. Feresten, age 70 of West Bridgewater passed away Saturday, February 28, 2009 in the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the husband of Mary Jo (Harney) Feresten to whom he had been married for 45 years.
Mr. Feresten was born in New York City the son of the late Dr. Morris Feresten and Eileen (Donavan) Feresten and step-son of the late Wanda (Helms) Feresten. He spent his youth in Taunton and Fall River and was a 1955 graduate of Tabor Academy and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bradford Durfee Tech now UMASS Dartmouth in 1963 before moving to West Bridgewater over 40 years ago.
Mr. Feresten was employed as a Salesman for the Lee Wayne Corporation of Sterling, IL for over 30 years; he wrote a column for the West Bridgewater Times on the lighter side of local politics and was a member of the West Bridgewater Youth Athletic Assoc. Mr. Feresten along with his friend Richard Domingos performed, wrote and produced the “Mike and Richie Show” which aired on local television and in 1992 won an ACTVE Award for Best on Air Talent.
Active in his community, Mr. Feresten gave his time and energy for 20 years to the West Bridgewater Emergency Fund which would raise money from local businesses to help the Community Christmas Sharing Program.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their three children Michael Feresten and his wife Erica of West Hollywood, CA, Christopher Feresten and his wife Debra of Livingston, NJ and Beth Feresten of Boulder, CO; two brothers Paul H. Feresten of Westborough, MA and Timothy H. Feresten of Greenbelt, MD; three grandsons Matthew, Daniel and Jack Henry Feresten and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Feresten was also the brother of the late Peter H. Feresten.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 9am from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St., Brockton followed by his Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Anne’s Church 95 North main St., West Bridgewater.
