Gilford-----Edward Adam Merski, Jr., 81, of Linda Lane passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Golden View Healthcare Center, Meredith.
Edward was born on November 20, 1934 in Fort Jay, New York the son of Edward A. Sr. and Stella (Pelis) Merski. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Edward retired in 1994 after 32 years working as a forester for the US Department of Agriculture (US Forest Service). He was a member of the Laconia Kiwanis Club, Missouri and Michigan Lions Club, Kentucky Jaycees and was a trustee of the Gilford Library for 18 years. Some of his hobbies were, reading, fishing, hunting and downhill skiing. Edward also was an avid numismatist.
Edward was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish, Sacred Heart Church. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Lakes Church.
Edward is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joanne (Brzezinski) Merski, of Gilford; a son, Edward "Chip" A. Merski III, of Winthrop, MA; a daughter, Diane A. St. Germain and her husband, Donald, of Manchester; a grandchild, Julia St. Germain, of Manchester; 2 nephews and 9 nieces; and several cousins in Poland. Edward was predeceased by several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia NH using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Andre Bessette Parish-Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. Laconia NH.
Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 11:00am in the Calvary Cemetery, Bridge Street, Hatfield, MA.
