Mr. Albert J. ‘Gus’ Godin, 71, formerly of 81 Lancaster Road, Gorham, passed away on Monday, December 17th, 2007. He was born in Berlin, on April 24th 1936, the son of Mr. Alexander Godin and Irene Morin.

He is survived by his loving wife Jan of 44 years. He is also survived by five children, sons Daniel Vashaw of Berlin, NH; Tim Godin and his wife Donna of Gorham, NH; and three daughters: Jill Levesque and her husband Rene of Milan, NH; Tina Laflamme and her husband James of Fayetteville, NC and Tammy Moran and her husband Joe of Pembroke, NH. Gus is survived by sisters Lola Bourassa and her husband Florian, of Berlin, NH and Ann Marie Kelly and her husband Gene, of Berlin, NH. Members of his extended family include 12 grandchildren (Eric, Karen, James, Brandon, Shayna, Christopher, Matthew, Taylor, Nicholas, Joshua, Sarah and Alex J) and three great-grandchildren (Brynna, Caitlan and Hannah).

Gus was a well-known and life-long member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles club. He loved to ride motorcycles, and had served as the director of the Berlin Snowshoe Club. He was a lifelong resident of the Berlin-Gorham area. He started his long career in the heating business at Hodgdon, and then began his own business in Berlin for many years, before retiring to the good life. Summers were spent camping at Israel River campground, where he created “the perfect swing” and entertained his many grandchildren, who loved to call him “Papa” and rock with him into the evening. Gus was playfully known by all his close friends and family as “the man who could do and fix ANYTHING!”

Gus will be sorely missed by all who knew him for his quick wit, kind nature and genuine love for all those who surrounded him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 20th, at 1PM at the St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. Relatives and friends may call at Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street in Gorham from 7PM to 9PM on Wednesday, December 19th.
