To the family of Eddie, Words cannot express the sincere sadness that fills my heart knowing that he has left this physical earth when he has so much - to accomplish yet..... My only recent memeory of him was walking around Buttonwood Park with his beautiful daughter with a smile from ear to ear... and me yelling ou the window what a great picture. May god give you the strength to raise his beautiful daughters and with time may it get a little easier... Liz and Joe Santos

Dear Mario and Gomes family, May God give you the courage and strength to heal your hearts. It seems like just yesterday we were all hanging around the beach and now my little Eddie is gone. I have some really wonderful memories of him. May your memories be a comfort to you. It's sad to think that we won't ever see that beautiful smile again. He was truly a special person. I'd like to share a few personal thoughts about Eddie. I knew him as Eddie, but he was known by a few other names. Some knew him as Eddie some knew him as Ed, some knew him as Eduardo, some people used his first and last name and called him Eddie Gomes. Some people who were closest to him knew him as Jo. I've been best friends with Eddie since I was a little kid. I'm honored to have shared a huge part of my life with him. I have countless memories of the great times that we shared, and I'll cherish those memories for the rest of my life. I have a sister who I love more than I can explain, and to me Eddie was my brother. Every time I would call him or he would call me, and we left a message, I would say, hey it's me give me call, and he would do the same. I miss him very much, and I know I will never see him again, but what hurts the most is that I'll never talk to him again. I loved talking with Eddie, we understood each other. He was always there when I needed him. There was just something about him that would lift my spirit when he walked into a room. I wish I could have said goodbye, because there are so many things that I wanted to say, and if your listening now, I want you to know that I love you very much. This is a rough time, the loss of a young person is always a terrible thing. But in this case, it's even more cruel because Eddie was an idealist, and he struggled, all through his life, to be a good man. He wasn't perfect, but then who among us is. He took every opportunity to show the people he loved how much they meant to him, and now that he's gone, ther'll be a hole in our hearts. His two daughters were his life and I know he'll be watching over them for the rest of their lives.
