TAUNTON – Antonio “Luis” Resendes, husband of Laurinda C. (Cabral) Resendes, died at Morton Hospital on Jan. 1, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was 54.
A Taunton resident since 1972, he was born in Santa Maria, Azores, the son of Maria (Reis) Dias and the late Joao Tavares Resendes.
Mr. Resendes worked as a production specialist for Texas Instruments in Attleboro (now Sensata Technologies), since 1974.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Taunton.
A member of the Portuguese American Civic Club of Taunton and the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society of Bridgewater, Mr. Resendes enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and visiting his homeland.
Besides his wife and mother, both of Taunton, he leaves his stepfather, Aderito Dias of Taunton; two sons, Ryan L. and Marc P. Resendes, both of Taunton; a brother, Humberto Resendes of Taunton; two sisters, Maria Pedro and Elizabeth Pacheco, both of Taunton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was also the brother of the late Valter Resendes.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Jan. 6th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church, Taunton at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 5th from 5 to 8 p.m.
