Obituary

BEVERLY: John C. “Jack” Marshall, 85, died Monday, November 1, 2010 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Caryl F. (Keane) Marshall who died in 1996.
Born in Beverly on April 20, 1925, he was the son of the late William G. and Esther G. (Hull) Marshall. He was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of Beverly High School. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged as a pharmacist’s mate in April 1946.
Jack was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Beverly for many years before his retirement in 1985. An avid golfer, he enjoyed working at the Cape Ann Golf Course. Jack also loved music and enjoyed playing the organ.
He is survived by four daughters, Kathy Conlon, Jae Armenta and Ann Marie and her husband, Eric Murray all of Beverly and Lynda and her husband, David Gotts of Danvers; eleven grandchildren, Kymberli Smalley, Sean and Ryan Conlon, Mark, Keith, Brett and Erica Murray and Jessica, Matthew, Christopher and Emily Gotts; four great-grandchildren, Marshall and Sawyer Smalley and Matthew and Carney Murray; a sister, Barbara Yescalis; brother-in-law, John E. Kelleher, Sr. and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Louise Marshall, his son, John Marshall, a granddaughter, Jennifer Armenta, two sisters, Eleanor Kelleher and Anne Graffam, two brothers, Robert and Reginald “Mike” Marshall and a brother-in-law, Robert Yescalis.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in W. Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
