Obituary

BEVERLY: Beverly lost a lifelong resident, Roger D. Coletti, 89, on Tuesday morning, October 6, 2009 surrounded by his family.
Born in Beverly on April 19, 1920, he was the tenth child of the late Domenico and Lucia (Cedrone) Coletti.
Roger was a veteran of World War II, having served one stint each with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army 314th Infantry. He was honorably discharged in October of 1943. He was a popular Beverly letter carrier for over forty years.
Roger married the love of his life, Eleanor (Kelaher) Coletti, with whom he shared over forty-six years of marriage, until her death in 1990. Roger longed to be with her again.
He was a devoted family man and father of six. He loved life and enjoyed making it more interesting for others through his generous spirit and sense of humor. He will be remembered by all who knew him as an avid reader, historian, a loyal Beverly and New England Patriots football fan and admirer of the ponies.
Roger’s charismatic personality will be sorely missed at Blueberry Hill Healthcare, where he had resided and was tenderly cared for over the past five years.
He is survived by three beloved sons, Bill, husband of Myra Coletti of Gloucester, David, husband of Nancy Coletti, Kevin, husband of Maureen Coletti all of Beverly, three beloved daughters, Christine Squillace of Gloucester, Mary, wife of Jack DiVincenzo, and Jane, wife of Thomas Alexander all of Beverly. He was the proud grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He was predeceased by three brothers and seven sisters.
In keeping with Roger’s wishes, visiting hours will be held on Saturday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 9 – 11 a.m. followed by a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Blueberry Hill Healthcare “Resident Activity Fund”, 75 Brimbal Ave., Beverly, MA 01915.
