Obituary

In Taunton, December 29, 2007, Arthur F. “Archie” Henrique Fr., son of Mary L. Henrique of Taunton and the late Arthur F. Henrique died at his home Saturday night at the age of 58. Born in Provincetown he lived most of his live in Taunton. He attended Taunton schools and played basketball for St Anthony’s Church in the CYO League. He was elected to the first Teenage Municipal Council acting as president. In November 1966 the Teenage Council challenged the then council to a basketball game. Councilman John B. Grant and “Archie Henrique starred in the game that ended in a 35-35 tie with Henrique scoring 27 points. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as a machine gunner. Cpl. Henrique received the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, the highest award with palm from the South Vietnamese government for gallantry in action. He was also awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with two stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Combat Action Ribbon and Rifle Marksman Badge. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 57. Most of his adult years, he worked as a carpenter. Besides his mother he leaves Linda Mendonca of Taunton his significant long time companion, a wife Pamela Henrique of Norton, a son Dylan Henrique of Middleboro, two daughters Jenny Henrique of Plymouth and Denise Naples of Canton and a step daughter Melissa Masse of Norton. He leaves five Grandchildren and three step Grandchildren. Also a sister Arlene LaVoie of Taunton and a large extended family. Funeral from the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Thursday, January 3rd at 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church in Taunton at 11:30 AM. Calling hours will be on Wed from 4-7 PM. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Bourne Ma at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Archie’s memory may be made to D.A.V. P.O.
