Obituary


Cronin, Victoria T. (Venezia) of Quincy formerly of Dorchester, died on Thursday, Feb. 17 at the age of 84, surrounded by the loving family she devoted her life to. Wife of the late Francis X. Cronin. Loving mother of Patricia A. Cronin of North Abington, Michael F. Cronin and his wife Marian of Weston, John E. Cronin and his wife Nancy of Jericho,Vermont, James J. Cronin of Mansfield and Mary V. Bodkin and her husband James of Quincy. She was pre-deceased by her brother Michael Venezia. Victoria was the cherished grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Born in Cambridge, Victoria was raised in South Boston before moving to Dorchester. Her childhood was rich with family love and tradition, which would later become the foundation for all that was important to her. A graduate of Gate of Heaven High School and Boston College she initially worked as a librarian at the Boston Public Library. She was the very first lay teacher at St. Peter’s School in Dorchester where she taught for 26 years until she retired. She took great pride in educating the children in her care. She enjoyed playing the piano. The essence of her life was her family. Victoria will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who brought grace and style to the lives she touched, so characteristically of the way she lived her life. She will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8pm in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday morning at 8am prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Brigid’s Church, 841 East Broadway, South Boston at 9am. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215, Foot Center and Vascular Surgery.
