New Bedford – Dorothy F. (Pittsley) Cook, 79, of New Bedford died October 10, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Wilfred W. Cook.
Mrs. Cook was born in E. Freetown, daughter of the late Jesse A. and Grace A. (Pittsley) Pittsley, and resided in the greater New Bedford area all of her life. She attended the Open Door Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Nancy A. Oliveira, Carol A. Cornell and Betty L. Cook, all of New Bedford; 4 sons: Wilfred W. Cook of New Bedford, Douglas E. Cook of New Bedford, Jesse A. Cook of Fairhaven, and Allen B. Cook of New Bedford; a sister: Mary Shelton of Phoenix, AZ; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
She was mother of the late Barbara L. Mello and David W. Cook; grandmother of the late Paul I. Cornell and Paul D. Mello; and sister of the late Eleanor Reynolds, Nellie L. Westgate, Morris, Arthur, and Melvin Pittsley.

Funeral services on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home.
Interment in Pittsley Family Cemetery, E. Freetown.
