Obituary

David L. Burr of New Bedford died unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital on his 78th birthday. He was the husband and best friend of Evalynne "Eve" (Turner) Burr; they were together for 44 years.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late William H. and Mabel (Conceicao) Burr.

Mr. Burr was formerly employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing until his retirement

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska. An avid golfer, he was a former member of the 9/18 Golf Club and the Whaling City Golf Course. Through thick and thin, he was a true fan of the New York Yankees.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Donna Ziegler and Kenneth Burr of New Bedford, and Aaron Burr of Virginia; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was like a father to nieces, Jillian and Casey-Ann Dahlberg.

He was the father of the late David L. Burr, Jr. and brother of the late William H. Burr, Jr.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 9-11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church at 12 Noon. Private burial with military honors will be held at the Mass. National Cemetery in Bourne.
