Helen Elizabeth Van Kirk Spencer, 78, Clarksville, died Monday, September 6, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Brother Terry Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the hour of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 3, 1932 in Washington, PA, daughter of the late Daniel Wade Van Kirk and Margaret Elizabeth Berry Van Kirk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Spencer, and daughters Linda D. Hainer and Francis Kathleen Hainer. She was a bookkeeper for Lite-Touch Auto, Chaplain for Ladies Auxillary V.F.W. Post 11160, and secretary for Cub Pack #546. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth A. Hainer and Edward D. Scandreth, both of Cortland, OH; a daughter, Janice Walker, Clarksville; a sister, Alice R. Taggart, Washington, PA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
