Obituary

Methuen, MA – Clarice G. (Pinto) Tardugno,86, died Tuesday August 24th at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, surrounded by the family she loved so much.
Born in Lawrence on November 15th 1923, Clarice was the daughter of Charles and Alice (Freitas) Pinto Ramos of Madeira Island Portugal. Clarice was educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1942.
Employed at several local industries including, Raytheon where she worked for 12 years before retiring, Clarice’s main occupation was taking care of and raising her family. She was the ultimate matriarch and the foundation of the family, and will be deeply missed. She was a great friend and mentor to many and her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
She enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling to places likes Scotland, Brazil, Puerto Rico, especially Madeira Island, Portugal where she leaves behind many family members. Clarice had a talent for knitting and crocheting and had made over 200 Afghans which were given to people all over the world.
Clarice is survived by her high school sweetheart Roland M. Tardugno , whom she waited to marry after his safe return from War. They have celebrated 64 years of marriage and their greatest gift to their children was the love and devotion they showed to each other even to the end. She is also survived by their 5 children Karen Wilson of Newbury, MA, Norman Tardugno and his wife Joanne of Methuen, Brian Tardugno and his wife Lorie of Methuen, Neil Tardugno and his wife Bonnie of Methuen, and Barry and his wife Colleen of Salem, NH. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Chad, Wendy, Jared, Brad, Evan, Victoria, Alicia, Justin, Taylor, Branden, Matthew and Jonathan and 2 great-grandchildren, Reilly, and Maddi and her niece Theresa Doherty as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Beatrice Silva, her Avoa, Theresa Freitas and her mother Alice Pinto-Ramos who died in 2009 at the age of 100.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the CIC Unit at Holy Family Hospital for all the love, care and support they showed to Clarice and her family.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday the 27th from 3-8PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence, St, Methuen, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday August 28th at 9 AM at St. Monica’s Church with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, both in Methuen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the CIC Unit at Caritas Holy Family Hospital c/o Cathy Simoes 70 East St., Methuen, MA 01844 .
