Obituary

Russell E. Tripp, 89, of Westport died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at home after a long illness. He was husband of the late Edna V. (Ponte) Tripp.

Born in Westport, son of the late Willis L. and Helen E. (Wall) Tripp, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. A graduate of Westport High School Class of 1938, he was a self employed dairy farmer. He was a member of the Portuguese American Civic League, Westport Historical Society, Agricultural Conservation & Stabilization Service, Bristol County Committee A.S.C.S., National Association of Farmers Elected Committee and MA Association of Farmers Elected Committee, where he served as secretary and treasurer. Mr. Tripp was a former member of the Fall River Liners Square Dance & Round Dance Club and the Bristol County Community Committee for many years.

Survivors include 4 daughters: Amy V. Lawton and her husband Clinton of Westport, Janice E. Stelljes and her husband George of Salina, KS, Laurie J. Benoit and her husband Stephen of Fairhaven and Patricia A. Bernat and her husband Joseph Clayton of Westport; 3 brothers: Willis A. Tripp of Ocala, FL, Alvin W. Tripp of Westport and Ernest H. Tripp of Ocala, FL; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was brother of the late Linwood M. Tripp, Carl F. Tripp, Howard S. Tripp and Edith Traganza.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, August 6, 2010 from the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 12:30 P.M.

Calling hours Thursday 4 – 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
