Jaime S. Santos, 76, of New Bedford died Saturday, May 22 while vacationing in Hawaii. His wife Isabel (Fernandes) Santos was by his side with their children and granddaughter.
Born in Murtosa, Portugal, the son of the late Antonio S. and Maria P. Santos, he came to the United States in 1963 and lived in New Bedford since 1978.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Mr. Santos was formerly employed as a commercial fishing boat owner and captain for many years until retirement. In retirement, he enjoyed overseeing the daily operation of his boats.
He was a member of the Fisherman's Club. Mr. Santos was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Jaime Santos and his wife Beth and Antonio Santos and his wife Jean, all of Dartmouth; 1 brother, Antonio Santos of Rahway, NJ; 6 grandchildren, Andrew Santos and his wife Jennifer, Stephanie Santos, Anthony Santos, Andrea Santos, Gina Santos and Joseph Santos; and 2 great-grandchildren, Maddox Santos and Elle Grace Santos.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Tuesday, June 1st at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, May 31st from 5-9 PM.
