Obituary

Addie M. Reader, 88, died May 1, 2010 at the Prescott House In North Andover. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth W. Reader with whom she shared sixty four years of marriage.

Addie was born September 10, 1921 at home in Lawrence and was the daughter of Edward and Mary (Codyre) Moore. She graduated from the Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen and completed her studies at the McIntosh Business School after which she held a position for the New England Power Co. in Lawrence as well as other businesses. She founded and built the Kenneth W. Reader Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Lawrence with her husband in 1946 and received her full insurance brokers license.

Addie was known for her beautiful voice and sang with an orchestra prior to her marriage in 1944. She was a member of the St. Michael's Choir in North Andover for more than 30 years where she was featured soloist and also served there as a CCD teacher. Addie has been recognized for her many hours of volunteer work at Lawrence General Hospital as a patient liaison. She enjoyed serving as a cub scout den mother and played many years with a local bowling league. in later years, she organized and ran Bible study classes in her home. She was a talented poet as well as a loving and devoted mother of two children.

Addie is survived by her son Kenneth R. "Dick" Reader and his wife Katherine of Windham, NH, her daughter Susan Armenia and her husband Richard of Hull, MA, granddaughter Kimberly Reader and her great grandchild Alexander of Scottsdale, AZ, and granddaughter Meris Armenia of Hull, MA as well as several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Katherine Sweeney, her brother Edward Moore, D.C., and her grandson Kenneth A. Reader.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Michael's Church, 196 Main St., North Andover, MA., Burial will follow at the Ridgewood Cemetery, 177 Salem St., also in North Andover. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday morning, May 11, 2010 from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA.
