Darrell D. Matthews Sr. age 55 of Peoria, passed away at 5:50am Monday April 19, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center from complications of brain cancer. He was born Dec.22, 1954 in Peoria to Betty Matthews.
Surviving are his children: Matt (Amy) Saso of Garden Prairie Il, Kimmy Matthews of Peoria, and Darrell (April) Matthews Jr. of Roanoke. Grandchildren: Breanna, Becky, and Nathan Saso, August and Jarrett Matthews. Also survived by one sister Karen Matthews of Bellevue Il, and one brother Archie Bohannon of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Darrell drove a Semi for most of his life. He was employed at Roanoke Concrete Products at the time of his passing. For the past few years his passion had become Dirt Track Racing. Darrell was a member of Teamsters Local #627 in Peoria.
Services will be at 11:00am Friday April 23, 2010 at the Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Reverend Rod Schertz officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm until 8pm Thursday April 22, 2010 at the Funeral Home and also one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Pattensburg Cemetery.
