I feel extremely honored to say that George was my friend - He touched so many lives in such a positive way, and I am forever grateful for the advice, knowledge, and personal experiences he shared with my son. My son is now going on to be a teacher and track coach...just like George. He was loved by all the kids he coached and will be truly missed.

Although its often cliche, George King was the epitome of class. Always soft spoken, even tempered and with a dry wit. As an official he was efficient, organized and well prepared. Nobody ran a finish line like George King. I learned a lot from him as an official and as a coach. The track world lost a giant.

Dear George, John, and Scott, Your Dad was such an inspiration to me for so many years of my life. He was a wonderful coach and mentor to me at CHS. I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to keep in touch with him and your Mom for many years afterwards.Though both of your parents suffered tremendously at times with medical illness, they were always so welcoming and positive. Thanks for sharing your wonderful Dad with me and so many others in Canton.

George, John and Scott...my heartfelt thoughts go out to you and your family. Your Dad was like a second Dad to me. He was a great coach who was always there for me outside of running. Always very supportive when he coached me at Canton H.S. through my last competitive race at age 32. As the years went by, he became a close friend who met my wife, was there for me when my sister died, always asked about my own children and parents, encouraged me to go to graduate school, career and on and on. I last spoke to your Dad at the end of November this past year on my way back to Wisconsin from Ohio where our women's cross country team at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire had just won the NCAA DIII National Championships. During the 12 hour bus ride, I realized that whenever anything was newsworthy in my life, I would make just two phone calls to the two most important parties who supported me in my life... my parents and your Dad, Mr. King. Our thoughts go out to you and please know how fortunate I am to have known your Dad. Truly a great man. Scott Kilgallon

, NH and Ohio,
For George's family, on behalf of all of the DeVos family, I want to express our sympathy for the loss of your father. It was a great shock to us. George was a true friend, a gentleman, a treasure. We will miss him in so many ways, in so many places.

Dear George, John, and Scott, Your father was my coach in the late 80’s at Canton High School and I can easily say, the best coach that I ever had. He was very encouraging of his athletes and helped us to achieve our best both on and off the track. He was a great man and I still remember the lessons that I learned from him 20 years ago. My thoughts are with your family.

Hi, I didn’t know Mr. King but my dad may have known him. Sad to read Mr. King has passed, my sincere condoleances. My dad has passed in 2014 and in his belongings I have found an old sigar pocket holding a piece of paper (entrance ticket from somewhere in Greece) with the following address: Mr George G. King 37 Winthrop St Boston 19, Mass. USA GA7-2521 Since my dad was a professor in physical education and had worked in the sector for his whole life, I tought maybe this Mr. King may as well be the person my dad had met. They had almost the same age as well. So this way I am letting you know that if this indeed the same Mr. King, he was thought of all the way in Belgium :-). Best, Annelies
