Obituary

Attorney Charles D. Kelley, 84, passed away suddenly on December 1st, 2009. He was born in Medford on August 29th, 1925 to his parents John J. and Anna L. (O’Neil) Kelley. Charles has been a life-long resident of Malden. He is a graduate of Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Malden Catholic High School. Charles earned an undergraduate degree from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He also received an undergraduate degree from Boston College and is a graduate of Boston College Law School earning him the distinction of “Double Eagle”. Charles served his country honorably as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. 1n 1960, he opened his law practice on Pleasant Street in Malden. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Trial Attorney Association of Massachusetts. Over the past several years, Charlie has been joined by his family at the firm. He was very proud to have them standing by his side these many years. He was a member and past two- term president of the Malden Rotary Club. He served on the City of Malden Housing Board and the Board of Appeals. He was also a member of the Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose and the Pocassett Golf Club. During the summer months, Charlie and his family lived in Megansett Beach, North Falmouth where he was a member and Past Commodore of the Megansett Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (McSorley) Kelley; by his children; Charles D. Kelley Jr. of Malden, Kara Munger and her husband Michael of Malden, Lisa Keating and her husband Paul of Norfolk, Sharon Hanley and her husband James of Malden and Patricia Lawhorne and her husband Mark of Malden; and by his grandchildren; Ryan and Falyn Kelley, Kelley Munger, Andrew, Ashley, Shealyn and Cassidy Keating, JohnCharles, James Jr. and Peyton Hanley and Jack, Markie and Brody Lawhorne. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Along with his parents, Charles was predeceased by his sisters Eunice Yost, Dorisann Perrotti and Barbara Halloran. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on December 7th, 2009 followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
