Obituary

Kevin suddenly passed away on November 16, 2009 in Fall River, MA. Kevin was born on February 15, 1961 at Kagnew Station Eritrea, East Africa where his family was stationed with the U.S. Army. The family then moved many times until settling in Tacoma in 1972 when their dad retired from the military after more than twenty years of service. Kevin had so many good friends in the neighborhood where he lived and also around Tacoma. One of his favorite things was to go fishing with his brothers and friends. In his late teens Kevin worked for quite a while as a fry cook at the KFC on 6th and Division, but eventually was given the chance to work and learn the tile trade from Floyd Moore (a relative of Kevin’s friends on South Verde street). A big project when Kevin first started, was helping lay tile at the Pike Place Market on what had previously been dirt flooring. After Kevin left Tacoma, he continued working in the tile business for some time but eventually started working in showrooms on displays and sales (kinder on the knees). Everyone who knew Kevin will remember him for his easy going, joking ways and will miss him very much especially his brothers, sisters and family. Kevin is survived by his two daughters Samantha and Danielle who he loved very much and who also love him very much; his mother Monica; brothers Rick (Janna), Mike(Stacey); sisters Cathy (Luke), Teresa, Monica (Jack-dec’d), and Karen (Jeff). In addition to niece Jillian and nephews William(Billy), Kevin-Geoffrey, and Ryan. He is also survived by many relatives in California, Hertfordshire, England, and South Wales. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence F. Porter, Jr. Memorial visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Sunday from 2 - 4:45PM at the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, followed by a memorial service at 4:45PM.
