HELEN L. (LENNERTON) WEHTER, age 95, a Hingham resident for over 60 years entered into rest on Wednesday, Nov. 18th, 2009 with her family at her side at the Harbor House Nursing Center in Hingham. Helen was born and raised in Boston. For many years, she was the Executive Housekeeper at the Sheraton Tara Hotel in Braintree where she was the recipient of the Cardinal Cushing Award, presented by Cardinal Humberto Medeiros for her work with children from the Cardinal Cushing School in Hanover.
She was the daughter of the late Leo C. and Mary (MacDonald) Lennerton and wife of the late Sulo Wehter. Helen was the mother of Richard K. Wehter and his wife Sally and Katherine M. Thompson and her husband Ronald all of Hingham. Sister of Joseph D. Lennerton of Leicester and Ruth M. Lennerton of Braintree. Grandmother of Jeffrey Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Andrea James, John Thompson, Kerry Dolan, Molly Wehter, Sara Riley and Tracy Hunter. Great Grandmother of Matthew James, Christopher Dolan, Jack Dolan, Emma Dolan, Elizabeth Thompson, Nicholas Thompson and Lucas Thompson. Also survived by her nephew John Lennerton. She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret, Mary, Marjorie and Rita; and brothers, John, Leo, Gerald and Alan.
Funeral Monday, Nov. 23rd at 10 AM from the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square at 11 AM.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Sunday from 2-6 PM. Donations may be made in her memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central N.E. Chapter, P.O.
