Hannah S. (Hanscom) Whittaker, 77, of Salem, NH, died peacefully Oct. 9, 2009 at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Freemont, NH.
Mrs. Whittaker was born Nov. 11, 1931, in Chichester, CT., a daughter of Ralph and Olga Hanscom and had been a resident of Salem for over 60 years. She was a graduate of Woodbury High School.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Whittaker worked as a Secretary for both the town of Salem and St. Basil’s Seminary. She was a member of North Salem United Methodist Church in Salem.
Mrs. Whittaker enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an avid yard saler and also enjoyed sewing.
Mrs. Whittaker is survived by her husband, Thomas Whittaker.
Family includes a daughter Judy Laroche and her husband Dean, a son Eric Chaya; and three grandchildren, Amy Colbert, Brian Laroche and Chrysta Chaya.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 11a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
Cremation will follow.
