Heron not only was a co-worker, but a friend. We joked with each other every time we met; the last time in June while we were both attending classes at our conference center in Norwood. I will miss that smile and sense of humor he always had. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

I want to express my deep sadness and all my sympathy to all the members of Heron’s family. Heron was the semiconductor industry leader in FM Global when I joined the Fab Team in 2000 from the French Operations. I really enjoyed working with him, for his competency, his kindness, his wisdom and his sense of humor. We also met when he was an account engineer. It was always a great pleasure to talk to him. I will miss Heron very much.

Dear Peterkin Family, Please accept our sincere condolence over the loss of Heron. I had the pleasure of meeting Heron at Mocking Bird Studio...we were in the adult rock band together, I was the lead singer. It was also a coincidence that my son Connor is friends with Melissa. When I came home one evening and talked about how much fun we were having and I mentioned the names of the guys in the group. Connor was thrilled. Melissa has been to our home as well. Even though our time spent together was short, it was truly a pleasure. He was I'm sure a wonderful husband, dad, son and friend. He was a pleasure to know even just for a little while. God Bless and Godspeed for strength and healing. Sincerely, Diane Barry

To Bonnie, Nicole, Melissa, Matthew and Gregory: I considered Heron was one of my closest friends at FM Global and he and I confided in each other regularly about doing the job when we were group managers together. He was just promoted to Engineering Manager in Chemical Operations and I was so much looking forward to working closely again with him in the Eastern Division engineering. He touched my family just from the pleasant stories I told about him when I would return home from work - those that always left a smile on my face. He always had a way of picking me up when things did not seem to be going that well. We always related, having daughters in their first year of college who would call us on the cell phones, anytime, anywhere. When we would be together, he would get a call from his daughter or I would get one from mine. We talked about our daughers Neon's at one point - just so many things we shared in common. My son Mason met Heron when I brought him in for a day at work and Mason has always remembered Heron from that day as he showered him with kindness and attention. I met Heron within his first 2 years with FM when I was in Canada. Heron will be sorely missed and I will always remember him as one of the finest and smartest human beings I have ever known. I, as well as all the others he worked with, will miss him dearly. Our family's hearts goes out to all of you. With our deepest sympathies and love, The Saunders family

Heron was my manager from 2006 to 2007. He was a great manager who approached life and job with balance. He knew when to get serious and when to laugh. I learned much from him in the short year that he mentored me. I will remember many things he taught me. I will miss him greatly and miss seeing his smiling face on the golf course. I can't believe he has been taken from us at such a young age. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children.

Dear Peterkin Family, Just like so many other colleagues at FM Global, I am stunned. It was only a few weeks ago when I called Heron to offer him my heartiest congratulations on his most recent appointment and promotion. And now, this. What a loss to us all. Yet, yours' is the most profund. You have been, and will be in my prayers. Brendan

It was a joy to work with Heron. I only knew him in the context of the Credit Union board, an I am the poorer for that. He brought wisdom, compassion, common sense, and good humor to every situation. I will miss him. The Credit Union will miss him. Everyone who knew him will miss him.

Dear Bonnie, I have known Heron for over 10 years- first as a co-worker and for the past 1 1/2 years as my Group Manager. Above all, Heron was a very good friend. A simple, kind, sincere, unselfish, funny, are some of the words immediately come to mind when I think of Heron. Just last Tuesday he called me while returning from a business trip to Troy, NY. He wanted to let me know how happy and proude he was of the FM Project Team for contributing to a completion of a picture-perfect brand new fab facility. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the Peterkin family. Knowing and working with Heron was truly a joy. He will be sorely missed.

I was a co-worker of Heron's, and our paths crossed numerous times over the years, mostly on a business level. It was obvious to me how dedicated he was- to his career, but also to his family and friends. I knew him to be a man of integrity and passion, dedication and commitment. He was quick with a smile, and that I will remember the most. He was a good man, and I was extremely saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with the family. My sincere condolences.

I have worked at FM Global for 38 years. I was the 3rd black person to work here in Norwood, My mother the 2nd. I was a friend of Heron's and a proud one because he had reached the position he had. He worked hard for it. Even now, in 2009, it's an achievement of greatness for a black man. Heron was heavily respected here at work as an intelligent, knowledgeable, noble, honest, distinghiushed, accomplished, hardworking, trustworthy... Heron was a fine and outstanding man. I can tell you that I always liked to see him coming and I had to stop to talk with him if only for a minute because he was a joy to chat with. I will miss him as will everyone, very much. My wife and I lost our 27 year old son last December and I can tell you that there is nothing to say about what you are feeling. I just wanted you to know how Heron was thought of "on the outside" because everyone at this company who knew Heron is hurting. I am very, very sorry for your loss.

Like everyone I was taken by surprise by the news of Heron's passing. I worked closely with Heron during my time in Staff Engineering at FM Norwood back in 98/99 and enjoyed his sense of humour and outlook on life. My wife and I pray that your happy memories of Heron will comfort you and your faith in Jesus Christ will sustain you in the days ahead.
