Obituary

Phyllis E. (Jackson) Monteiro, 57, of Marion died May 15, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of Louis Nye Monteiro.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Horace Jackson and Florence Stevens, she lived in Fairhaven most of her life before moving to Marion 12 years ago.
Phyllis was a communicant and active member of St. Rita's church in Marion.
She was formerly employed as a nurses aide in several local nursing homes for several years.
Phyllis was a member of Shining Tides Quilting Club. She enjoyed quilting, walking her dog Skylar and spending weekends and sleepovers with her granddaughters.
Survivors include her husband; 2 sons, Matthew Aadland and his wife Kathleen of Fairhaven and Timothy Aadland of Marion; 4 brothers, Gary Jackson and his companion Mary-Lou Oblatore and George Jackson and his wife Diane, all of New Bedfrod, Leo Jackson and his wife Liz of Florida, Arthur Rousseau and his companion Vivian Graham of Fairhaven; 2 sisters, Elaine Reeves of Acushnet and Freida Fuller of Eugene, Oregon; 3 granddaughters, Victoria, Gabriella and Anya; many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Donna Jackson.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Tuesday, May 19th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Rita's Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, May 18th from 4-7 PM.
