Dear McGowan Family and Jennifer, I just wanted you to know how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I came to know Steve through my brother when they played softball together, many years ago. He was such a wonderful person. Always kind, funny and caring. I feel blessed to have known him. He touched so many lives. As an acquaintance of his, I will miss him dearly and always remember him joking and making me laugh out loud. My prayers go out to his family and friends for your great loss.

Dear McGowan Family and Loved Ones of Steve's, I went to school with Steve K-8, moved away for 25+ years, and re-met Steve at the Burlington '84 reunion just 5 years ago. It was as if we hadn't lost any time at all; he was among the few who both recognized and remembered me just as though I'd never left town - and I knew and remembered him instantly, as well! I was lucky enough to bump into him several times afterward at sports-related events, and he was always kind and gracious, as always. Throughout all the years I knew Steve, he was someone I always regarded as a very special person -- a real stand-out -- due to his friendly and witty nature and huge heart, as well as his many gifts and athletic talents. I am so very sorry for all of your heartbreaking loss and wish you all peace, understanding, and healing in the coming days. I will never forget Steve McGowan and I know there are countless people who can echo these thoughts and many other very fond memories. Love, Yvonne Flanagan

Mr. & Mrs. McGowan - I grew up down the street from you and have many fun memories of playing in the neighborhood with Stephen and friends. As adults, our paths would cross often and our childhood together always served as a bond, allowing us to easily reconnect. When I think of Stephen, I picture him with a BIG smile and an effortless laugh – he was a good soul. I cannot imagine the pain of losing your son – my heart goes out to you both and hope that you are able to find peace in the days ahead.
