Obituary

Stephanie "Stella" (Malek) Hannagan, 89, a resident of Methuen, MA., passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Lawrence, MA. on Sptember 15, 1919, Stella was educated in the Lawrence Schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She had worked at Western Electric for 29 years retiring in 1983. Stella was a member of the Rainbow Club of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Methuen, MA., the Senior Citizens of Methuen, and she was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers at Western Electric. Stella was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence. Stella's greatest love was Fred her husband of 69 years. She was the Matriarch of her family and her home was home to them.

children: Fred Hannagan, Jr. and his wife Georgia of Chelmsford, MA. and Robert Hannagan and his wife Claire of Deltona, FL.
grandchildren: Tracey Hannagan DoRosario and her husband Amarildo of Lawrence, MA., Robert Hannagan, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bethel, CT., Chad Hannagan and his wife Donna of Sandown, NH., Michael Hannagan and Kristen Rosengard of Amesbury, MA., Jeffrey Hannagan of Lowell, MA., and Gary Hannagan of Chelmsford, MA.
great grandchildren: Danielle Hannagan of Lawrence, MA. and Corey Hannagan of Methuen, MA. and Susan, Erin, and Patrick Hannagan all of Bethel CT.
great great grandchild: Angeliah Hannagan of Lawrence, MA. as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by a sister-in-law: Rita McDermott Hannagan of Methuen, MA. as well as a brother Edward Malek of Lawrence, MA. Stella was predeceased by her sister Jenny Malek Slattery and her brother Henry Malek.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
