Obituary

GLOUCESTER, MA: Renaude M. “Renée” (Jacques) Gove, 69, of 23 Ferry Street died unexpectedly at home early Monday morning, January 26, 2009. She was the wife of Donald F. Gove, Sr.
Born in Brownville Junction, Maine on June 30, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Hilaire and Germaine (Goulet) Jacques. She was a graduate of the Brownville Junction High School in 1957.
Following graduation, she moved to Washington, DC; attended Georgetown University and worked at the Pentagon. In 1962 she transferred to Gloucester to work at the Division of Fish and Wildlife. She was also employed at the Veteran’s Administration in Boston.
In the 1980’s she was a dedicated volunteer at the Addison Gilbert Hospital and was in charge of the candy stripers. An enthusiastic member of the Cape Ann Y.M.C.A for over twenty years, she was a proud member of the “Wet Hens.” She was a lover of music and an avid piano player. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband of forty-five years, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and William Swain of Vancouver, WA, Janice and William Kerr of Gloucester, her son, Donald F. Gove, Jr. of Gloucester, five grandchildren, Jacqueline, David, Michael, Drew and Colin. She also leaves six sisters-in-law, Patricia Olson, Judith Porter, Nancy Richards, Monique Jacques, Carolyn Gove and Eileen Gove, her brother-in-law, Sylvio “Joe” Cyr and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two sisters, three brothers, Mary Baker, John Jacques, Guy Jacques, Louise Cyr and Louie Jacques and three brothers-in-law, John “Jack” Gove, Kenneth Gove and Alfred “Frenchy” Olson.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning in the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Epilepsy Foundation of America, 8301 Professional Pl., Landover, MD 20785 (epilepsyfoundation.org) or the Scleroderma Foundation, Attn: Research Donations, 300 Rosewood Dr., Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923 (scleroderma.org). Interment will be held in the Seaside Cemetery.
