Obituary

BEVERLY: Max “Maxie” Sholomith, 85, died peacefully in his sleep in the Beverly Hospital on Thursday, November 27, 2008. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Donlon) Sholomith of whom he adored above all.
Born in New York City on August 24, 1923 he was the son of the late Joseph and Rebeka (Behar) Sholomith. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe before being honorably discharged on December 9, 1945.
Max had owned and operated the Anthony & Salem Auto School for over forty years before retiring in 1985. He taught thousands of teenagers as well as adults how to drive. He also loved to play cards.
In addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by his daughter, Lynne Cunningham, three sons, Joseph Sholomith, James Sholomith and Martin Sholomith and his wife Susan, eight grandchildren, Joseph, Sara-Jean, John Patrick, Jessica-Lynne, Joshua, Jake, Owen and Drew, a sister, Esther Gibley, three sisters-in-law, Pat Donlon, Mary Curran and Peggy Esterbrook, three brothers-in-law, James Donlon, Richard Donlon and his wife, Gail and William Donlon and his wife, Skippy and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Hyman Sholomith, a brother-in-law, Joseph Gibley and two nephews, Lenny Gibley and Gerry Carpenter.
His funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., 1811 R St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20009.
