William T. Dwyer, a 35 year resident of Wakefield, died on Friday, October 17, 2008, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following an extended illness. He was 66 years old.
Bill was born in Boston on January 12, 1942. He grew up in Dorchester where he attended St. Mark's Parochial School and graduated from Boston Latin School in 1960. He enlisted into the Unites States Air Force on September 24, 1962. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict and was discharged on August 20, 1965, with the rank of Airman Second Class. Bill worked for United Airlines for 38 years, involving himself in many of the departments within the Company and retired as Freight Manager. He was a member of United Airlines Nor'Easters and former member of the Wakefield Elks. Bill was active at Most Blessed Sacrament Church as an usher. Following his retirement, Bill worked part time at B.J's in Stoneham.
Bill is the beloved husband of 40 years to Marie Elaine (Giordano) Dwyer. He is the devoted father of Kerrianne Dwyer-Sherburne and her husband Kevin of Wakefield and Kelly Gray and her husband Will of Tewksbury. He is the loving Papa to Madison, Katherine, Brendan and Samantha. He is the brother of Ellen Cathcart of N.Y. He is the son-in-law of Anna Giordano of Everett. He is the brother-in-law of Nicholas and Ella Giordano of Melrose and Anthony and Cathy Giordano of North Reading. He is also survived by 2 aunts, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Bill's Funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose, line followed by his Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Monday, October 20, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. Cremation will take place following his Funeral Mass.
