Obituary

LOWELL, MA – John H. Talty, born in Lowell February 16, 1925 resided in Dracut for many years. He was the son of the late Hugh and Mary Ellen (Powers) Talty. He attended St. Patrick’s School and graduated from Keith Academy in 1942. He served with the 6th Armored Division in Europe during WW II. He received the Combat Infantry Man’s Badge, two Purple Hearts, and the Bronze Star, as well as other medals.

He was a 33 year employee of the Lowell Post Office and served mostly in Centerville. He was active at all levels of the Carriers Union. He was a member of the Lowell Elks, the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Dracut American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Talty is survived by his wife Vera (Kuklicz) Talty, his son Jack Talty of Nashua, a daughter Mary Ellen Wasylak and her husband Chuck of Dracut, 2 grandchildren Patrick and Gregory Wasylak, a sister-in-law Catherine Talty of Hudson, NH, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 4 brothers Francis, Hubert, Gerald, and Daniel and 3 sisters Virginia Callery, Elizabeth and Kathleen Talty.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. His funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Friday at 8 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9 AM at St. Francis Church in Dracut. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dracut Library, 28 Arlington Street, Dracut, MA 01826.
