Obituary

Henry S. Cebula, age 65 of Fairhaven, died September 26, 2008 at home after courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was the husband of the late Eileen F. (Domingos) Cebula who died on September 12, 2008.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Henry and Grace (Dias) Cebula, he was a longtime resident of Fairhaven.
Mr. Cebula was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in New Bedford.
He was a commercial lobsterman and an active advocate for Area II lobstermen. He was also formerly employed as a teacher and football coach at several local high schools.
Mr. Cebula was inducted into the New Bedford High Gridiron Club Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a passionate football fan and had many fond memories of his coaches, fellow teammates, and players. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends watching games and was an avid Patriots supporter.
His greatest role was that of grandfather. He was a beloved and proud grandfather who found enormous joy in his grandchildren.
Survivors include 3 sons, Matthew Cebula and his wife Ellen of Dartmouth, Aaron Cebula and his wife Christine of Fairhaven, and Luke Cebula of Boston; daughter, Andrea Cebula of New York; a brother Edward of Wrentham; 6 grandchildren, Caleb, Owen, Wyatt, Hadley, Ainsley, and one beloved grandchild on the way; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Route 6, Mattapoisett Wednesday, October 1st at 8:45 AM. The Funeral Mass for Henry and Eileen Cebula will be celebrated in St. Anthony's Church, New Bedford at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours for Mr. and Mrs. Cebula will be on Tuesday, September 30th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, rememberences may be made to the Matty Oliveira Memorial Fund, c/o Loel Botelho, 15 Holiday Drive, Fairhaven, MA 02719 or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
