Obituary

RAYMOND A. COREY
Devoted Husband and Father

Raymond died unexpectedly of heart failure on September 16, 2008.
He leaves his wife of fifty-two years, Patricia E. Borden (AKA: Grumpy), sons, Eric A. Corey and Paul A. Corey, both of Taunton, and daughter Amy M. Corey and her husband Todd Tolliver of New York.
He was the proud grandfather of Eric Raymond Corey, Amanda Corey, and Sarah Corey of Taunton, along with Ashley Corey, her husband Wayne Perry, and his sweet great grandchildren, Allissa and Justin Perry all of Maine.
Ray was born in Dighton on March 9, 1934, the youngest of Antone S. and Mary Lorian Corey’s ten children.
His dearly loved siblings include Genevieve Farley of Dighton, Lynn Silvia of Raynham, Robert Corey and his wife Agnes, and Barbara O’Connell, and her husband Walter all of Taunton.
He was preceded in death by Irene Correia, Alfred Corey, Mary Corey, and two infant brothers, Antone and Louis Corey.
Ray is also survived by his other sisters, Joan Lewis of Seattle, Margie Souza and her husband Dick of Raynham, and Tizzie McDonald and her husband Lou of Marlboro.
He retired from the Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant after twenty years of service.
Previously, he had been employed by Norwell Lamp.
For the past sixteen years, until his death, Ray was fortunate enough to have worked at his dream job, courier/handyman, for the Visiting Nurses Association of Southeastern Massachusetts.
Every working day was an adventure, which he approached with a smile on his face.
Upon returning home, he always got a kick out of his family and friends, both two-legged and four.
He was successful in fulfilling his adamant desire to help others by having his body and organs donated to science through the programs of New England Organ Bank One Gateway Center, Suite 202 Newton, MA 02485-2803.
Raymond was so proud of being in his seventeenth year of sobriety, thanks to the serenity, courage and wisdom he attained through Alcoholics Anonymous -- dancing, whistling and singing all the way.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to: National MS Society, Central New England Chapter P.O. Box 845945 Boston, MA 02284-5945.
In lieu of a wake, a memorial reception will be held Saturday, September 20, from 10 am to 12 noon at the Chateau Restaurant, 48 Bay Road, Norton MA 02766.
