Helen D. McHugh, 90, of Manchester, died August 6, 2008, at a local health care facility after a period of declining health.
She was born in Manchester on December 29, 1917, the daughter of Gustave and Elsie (Berger) Boettcher. She was educated in local public schools and graduated from Manchester High School West in June of 1935.
After high school, she worked for the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company for eight years.
During the war years, she was home raising her family. She later worked for the Telephone Workers' Credit Union of NH for 24 years.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Catherine Church.
Her husband, William F. McHugh, preceded her in death in January of 1998.
Members of her family include one daughter and son-in-law, Judith and William Kazakis of Palm Harbor, FL; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Kenneth and Joanne McHugh of Hooksett, and Michael and Lucy McHugh of Rochester, MI; her grandchildren and their spouses, Stacy and Scott Weigler of Manchester, Stephen and Martha Kazakis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Keith and Sue McHugh of Manchester, Kent and Mandy McHugh of Oklahoma City, Erin and Mike Miles of Kansas City, Shauna and Terry Pierce of Overland Park, KS, Kurt McHugh and his fiancée Jennifer of Boston, and Patrick McHugh of Hooksett; six great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, August 11, 2008 in St. Catherine of Siena Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock Sts., Manchester. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
