Obituary

Chelmsford--Sarah A. (Farmer) Frisone, died May 27th, at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 14, 1928, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary A. (O’Leary) Farmer. She was raised in Nahant, MA, where she attended the Valley Road School. She graduated from Lynn English High School on June 14, 1946. Mrs. Frisone was a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell for 37 years prior to moving to Chelmsford in 1997 to reside with her daughter.

Mrs. Frisone was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, serving as the Transportation Coordinator for 10 years. She received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1980 for her dedicated service to that organization. In recent years she was a member of The Nahant Historical Society which brought her great pleasure.

She was a selfless person whose life was not only dedicated to her family but to everyone she knew. She was always there to lend a helping hand when someone was in need and made a difference in the lives of everyone she touched. She was an avid reader with a vast knowledge. Whenever an answer to a question was needed, regardless of the subject, she was the one to call. She always knew the answer without hesitation.

She is survived by her 6 children: James A. Frisone Jr., and his wife Sherrie, of Windham, NH; Donna M. Lacey, and her husband John, of Lowell; Sandra Fragale and her companion Kenneth St. Germaine of Lowell; Robert A. Frisone, and his wife Dianne, of Dennis, MA; Paula A. Gouveia, and her husband Frank, of Chelmsford, with whom she resided; and William A. Frisone, and his fiancé Michelle Shimko, of Lowell.

Also surviving her are 20 grandchildren, or as she so proudly called them “The Lights of My Life”: James (Jamie) A. Frisone III, and his wife Melanie, (Holman), of Tampa, FL; Sarah S. and Anthony J.(A.J.) Frisone of Windham, NH, Jennifer A. Digman and her husband Scott of Ballston Spa, NY, Jacqueline M. Adams and her husband Mark of Chelmsford, John (Jay) F. III and Jillian M. Lacey of Lowell, Kristyn A. Strules and her companion Jason Waite of Newport, RI, Melissa LaVarnway and her husband Nathan of Hudson, NH., Amelia (Millie) and Nicholas Fragale of Lowell, Julie Hesketh and her husband Matthew of Derry, NH, David Strenio Frisone and his wife Priscilla Moritz of Fairhaven, MA, Stephen R. Frisone of Peabody, MA, Frank Gouveia Jr. and his wife Inna (Gruman) of North Andover, Michael , Pamela, Anthony and Andrew Gouveia of Chelmsford and Angela Frisone, of Lowell. She also leaves 10 great-grandchildren, Collin and Liam Digman, Brandon and Lucas LaVarnway, Samantha, Mia, and Frank Gouveia III and Elizabeth, Jacob and Emily Hesketh; a sister: Jana Kennedy, of Peabody, MA; her former husband: James A. Frisone, of Dennis; and her dear friend, of 65 years, Helen Laybold, of Nashua, NH; along with many nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was also the sister of the late William A. Farmer, and the aunt of the late Sharon A. Farmer.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, May 29th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street (Rte. 38), Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, May 30th, at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
