Obituary

Henry F. Szepan, of Bedford, died April 25, 2008 at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in Manchester, June 28, 1919 and was the son of Frank and Anna (Chluchla) Szczepan. He had been living in Bedford for the past 38 years.
Henry graduated in 1944 from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. In World War II, he served as an officer-engineer with the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine in the Atlantic war zone. Henry worked for Ingersoll Rand, formerly Improved Machinery Corporation, in Nashua, NH for 40 years and later as a consultant for the pulp and paper industry. He holds several industry patents.
Henry enjoyed working outdoors attending to his yard and finding creative ways to solve problems around the house.
He was a member of the New Hampshire and the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, the Maine-New Hampshire Society of the Pulp and Paper Industry, the Nashua Country Club, and the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Manchester.
IN HIS LIFE: Family members include his wife of 60 years, Helen (Fortuna) Szepan; a daughter, Susan Szepan Slane, of Nashua; a grandson John Robert Slane; and several cousins in Poland. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Edward Szepan.
A service is planned for a future date.
