Obituary

THOMPSON, CT – John M. Withey, 58, of Sand Dam Road, died Saturday, March 8, in Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam after an illness. His wife, Dolly (Simmons) Withey, died in 1980.

He leaves 2 daughters, Michelle L. and her husband Gary Martinik of Thompson, and Melissa A. and her husband Luc Grenier of Weare, New Hampshire; a brother, Raymond H. Withey, Jr. of Dayville; his mother-in-law, Marge Simmons of Rhode Island; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Palazzo, Joshua Martinik, Julie Martinik, Amanda Grenier, Ashley Grenier and Alison Grenier; 2 great grandchildren, Isaac and Koby Rock; a nephew, Troy Withey of Jewitt City; and a niece, Debbie LeBlanc of Florida.

He was born on March 4, 1950 in Putnam, CT, a son of Raymond H. and Clara M. (Waldron) Withey, Sr.

Mr. Withey was employed at Primms Pin Factory in Dayville before working as a tree cutter for Linden Tree Service. He was a former member of the Dayville Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, cook-outs and spending time with family and friends.

The funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, c/o Day Kimball Hospital, 320 Pomfret Street, Putnam, Connecticut 06260. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster, Massachusetts.
