Marlene Merritt Morris, 71, of Ocilla died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, March 8, at the Ocilla Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Couey officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Morris was born September 29, 1936 in Irwin County to the late Dan L. and Alice Mathis Merritt. She lived in the community all of her life graduating from Ocilla High School in 1955. Mrs. Morris was a former employee of Hybernia’s and Polly’s both in Ocilla. She was a member of the Ocilla Baptist Church and the Gleaners Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bobby Morris of Ocilla; son, Lee Morris of Ocilla; daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Brian Marlowe of Sylvester; grandchildren, Robbie Morris, Cade Marlowe and Marlee Marlowe; brothers and sister-in-law, Dan L. & Magdeline Merritt of Belk, AL and Benny Merritt of Sylvester; sister, Charlene Ross of Albany. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
