Obituary


William M. “Bill” Stevens 65 years of Brockton died Tuesday January 1, 2008 at the Mass General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Cindy (Hill-Harris) Stevens. Bill was raised and educated in Portsmouth, NH and had been a resident of Brockton for over30 years.
Following high school he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served 5 years during Viet Nam. Upon his discharge he joined the Brockton Police Department, leaving after 19 years to join the Federal Aviation Administration. Bill was a Safety Inspector who investigated plane crashes, performed flight exams and base inspections.
Flying was his passion and he was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, hunting, skimobiling, scuba diving and camping. He was a lover of animals especially his adoring black lab Maggie and deceased hunting partner Ben an English setter dog.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons Erik Harris of Long Island, NY and Scott Stevens of Abington. He also leaves a granddaughter Morgan Stevens and a sister Pamela Stambough of NJ.
Services were arranged by the Conley Funeral Home and will be private. Donations in Bill’s name may be made to the MSPCA1300 West Elm Street, Ext. Brockton, MA 02301.
