Obituary

George E. MacNair, a resident of Newton Centre for over 64 years, died Monday Dec. 10, 2007 at his home. He was 92.
Born in Houlton, ME, he was a graduate of Colby College. He served with the U.S. Army during WW II and was discharged as a Sgt. He worked for many years as the assistant manager of Community Newspapers in Newtonville and later became Circulation Manager for 22 years for the News Tribune. He also worked part time for over 40 years at Filenes in Chestnut Hill in the men’s department and later in domestics. Mr. MacNair was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Newton Centre for more than 60 years. He served on the Vestry, as Jr. and Sr. Warden, supervised the Young Peoples Fellowship and ran the thrift shop.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary (Paul) MacNair, his children David G. MacNair of Newton, Lois G. Ciccone of Plymouth and Sharon M. DePasquale of Newtonville; his brothers Jack MacNair of Holton ME and Robert MacNair of GA; his grandchildren Christopher M. Ciccone, Tricia M. Ciccone, Nicole M. Kendall and Benjamin P. Ciccone as well as his great grandchildren Richie, Tyler, Courtney, Avery and Natalie. He was the brother of the late Marjorie Ingram, Dorothy Murphy, Jo Mayol and Ruth Beckman.
A funeral service will be held on Fri Dec 14 at 10 AM in Trinity Episcopal Church 11 Homer St. Newton Centre. Interment with Military Honors will follow at The Gardens at Gethsemane in west Roxbury. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Thurs from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
