Michael J. Bracken, 84 of Medford, formerly of County Roscommon, Ireland passed away at his home on November 25th, 2007. He was born on August 12th, 1923 to his parents Patrick and Elizabeth (McDermott) Bracken. Michael has been a resident of Medford for the past 53 years. He retired from Deaconess Hospital in Boston after working for several years in the grounds keeping and maintenance department. Michael has been a life member of the Pioneer Society and a long time parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden. He helped his children and his grandchildren grow and achieve. He enjoyed gardening and was known to be able to grow any flower. Michael brought peace, joy and beauty to his world. He was the devoted, loving and caring husband of Helen A. (Courtney) Bracken; the loving father of Anne Lunney and her husband Eugene of Melrose, Elizabeth Logue and her husband Hugh of Medford, Michael Bracken and his wife Cathy of Medford and Sean Bracken and his wife Kathleen of Wakefield. He was also the loving grandfather of Aine, Fiona, Eoghan, Michael, Colin, Christopher, Matthew and Caitlin. Michael was predeceased by his siblings William, Patrick and Bro. Gabriel Bracken, Margaret Lennon, Kathleen Smith, Sr. Ann Margaret Bracken, Sr. Patrice Bracken and Filomena Robinson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday November 29th at 10:30 AM followed by interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
