Robert F. McGovern, Sr., 67, died at home in Stoughton on Friday, November 16 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Nancy R. (Abbott) McGovern. Born in Dorchester the son of the late William and Dorothy (Sullivan) McGovern, he was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Class of 1959. He was a resident of Stoughton for 33 years. Mr. McGovern was a U.S. Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam Era. He worked at GTE in Westboro, Needham and Taunton for 30 years, retiring as a Project Manager 15 years ago.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McGovern is survived by his children, Robert F. McGovern, Jr. of NH, Tammy A. Fitzgibbon and Lisa M. DelGrosso both of Stoughton, as well as his grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Nicole, Robbie, Tommy, Isabella and Samuel. He was the brother of Ann Marie Wright and Dorothy McGovern both of Quincy and the late William. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul W. McGovern.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, November 19 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
