Mildred E. Woodard, 94, of Ocoee, Florida, (formerly of Fitzgerald) died Monday, October 1, at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 P.M., Sunday, October 7, at Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Don Woeltjen and Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery, Ocilla, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9, Saturday evening at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Woodard was born August 19, 1913, in Fife, Georgia, to the late Joseph E. and Nettie Speir Hollingsworth. She was a graduate and Salutatorian of her class at Ocilla High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Georgia State College for Women. Mrs. Woodard was a former resident of Ashburn and Ocilla before moving to Fitzgerald in 1943. She and her husband lived at Summerville Assisted Living in Ocoee, Fl for the past 5 years, where they were crowned Valentine King & Queen twice. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Jolly Jewelers. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Garden Club, Ladies of Nasah, the Ben Hillbilly’s Mamas and the Fitzgerald Library Board. She and her husband enjoyed the many times they spent on the St. Johns River fishing and living in the outdoors during their retirement. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Woodard is survived by her husband of 73 years, Eldridge C. Woodard of Ocoee, FL; sons & daughters-in-law, Robert E. & Sandra Woodard and Ronald S. & Maribell Woodard, all of Windermere, FL; grandson, Steve Woodard, of Gainesville, FL; 2 great-grandchildren, Jesse & Jacob Woodard of Gainesville, FL as well as 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.
