Obituary

Lawrence, MA – Henry W. “Pepere” Dion, 87 died Tuesday September 18, 2007 at the Lawrence General Hospital.

Born in Lawrence the son of the late Theodore & Audelide (Champagne) Dion, Henry was a graduate of St. Josephs School. For more than 40 years he delivered milk for H.P. Hood & Sons and was later employed by Essex County.

Mr. Dion was a former communicant of St. Anne’s Church in Lawrence and most recently with St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence.

During World War II he served his country in the United States Army and was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and received the Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star prior to his honorable discharge.

Henry was actively involved in Lawrence as Treasurer of the CMAC, longtime Election Warden, and a Census taker for the city. Henry was also involved in the French Social Club, a life member of the Franco American War Veterans, a member of Council # 67 Knights of Columbus in Lawrence, and worked & played Bingo at St. Patricks, St. Mary’s and formerly at St. Anne’s. Henry was also involved with St. Patricks Basketball.

A lifelong resident of Lawrence Mr. Dion was the widower of Lucienne (Michaud) Dion.
Survivors include children, Linda M. Dion of Lawrence, Dale M. Pelletier of Windham, NH, and Kenneth G. & wife Gina M. Dion of Lawrence, one sister Lucille Berube of Lawrence, 8 grandchildren Erin, Meghan, Tim, Casey, Chris, Tom, Kyle, & Maggie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will take place on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock in St. Patrick’s Church of So. Lawrence with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 P.M. & 6-9 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
