Obituary

Tobias P. Perry, 81, of Marion died Monday September 25, 2006 at Tobey Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Ellen T. (Andre) Perry.

Born in Dartmouth, the son of the late John and Mary (Souza) Perry, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life, before moving to Mattapoisett and Marion several years ago.

Mr. Perry was formerly employed as a supervisor at Chamberlain Manufacturing Company.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard.

He was a member of the Portuguese-American Social Club of Dartmouth. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends on Wednesday nights. He was a true patriot who loved his country. He loved animals, especially his cat Hamish.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Perry and Mark Perry and his wife Melody, all of Fairhaven; a daughter, Mary Ellen Murphy and her husband Shaun of Mattapoisett; a brother, Daniel R. Perry and his wife Alice of Dartmouth; a sister, Lillian Correia of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Scott Perry and Melissa Harrington; and six great-grandchildren.


He was the father of the late Donna Perry and brother of the late Jordan Perry.


The funeral procession will form on Thursday at 1 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Committal Service with military honors will be at 2 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
