Obituary

Wiley R. Walker, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, March 17, 2006 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Harris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Ben Hill County. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Walker was born March 2, 1937, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Reuben and Willene Young Walker. He lived in the community all of his life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1955. Mr. Walker was a former employee of Harry Merritt Service Station, former parts manager for Fitzgerald Ford and former employee of Massee Builders. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and a former member and deacon of Westside Baptist Church. Mr. Walker was a good and loving husband, father and grandfather, finding time to take his children and grandchildren fishing and helping with homework.

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife: Barbara Ann Walker of Fitzgerald; daughter & son-in-law: Teresia & Kenny Taylor of Fitzgerald; grandsons: John and Adam Hayth; step-grandchildren: James & Kayla Taylor; sisters: Nadine Sizemore and Fran Smith, both of St. Petersburg, FL. He was preceded in death by one grandson, T.J. Hayth.
