Sam McCachren Obituary - Water Valley MS

Samuel Thomas McCachren, Jr., age 84, died Monday, November 10, 2014 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born in Round Pond, AR to the late Samuel Thomas, Sr. and Marie Lipe McCachren. Sam served in the United States Air Force during WWII, stationed in Casablanca, and upon his discharge attended and graduated the Tennessee Police Academy. He retired as a Lieutenant for the Memphis City Police Department after twenty-six years of service. Sam was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for thirty years and Treasurer for twenty years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who dearly loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed barbequing and woodworking.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Ronald Jenkins and Bro. Rick Glidewell officiating. Burial will be in the McCachren family cemetery in Yalobusha County, MS with Justin Williams, Josh Williams, Ben Allen, Dillon McCachren, Buddy Crumley, Kye Gilley, Kody Gilley, Charles Bradley, Terry Allen, Jr. and Josh Smith serving as pallbearers. Bill Jenkins, Lance Humphreys, J.K. Ward, Jack Grass, Rick McCuan and Steve Riley will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Sam is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary L. Wiggins McCachren of Water Valley, MS; two daughters, Donna (Trip) Williams of Coffeeville, MS and Nancy (Joel) Rogers of Water Valley, MS; two sons, Alex (Vaiden) McCachren and William (Amy) McCachren all of Water Valley, MS; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
