Mark W. Browne, died suddenly of Amyloidosis on Monday August 16th at Boston Medical Center. He was born on August 23, 1941 and grew up in Dorchester before moving to Canton 47 years ago. He is survived by his wife Carolann (Flaherty) Browne and his three children, Karen Henning and her husband Dave of Grafton, Kathy Martin and her husband Roger of Marshfield and Robert Browne and his wife Kristin of Taunton. Loving grandfather to six grandchildren Tim, Brittany and Katelyn Martin, Robert Jr. and Megan Browne and Emily Henning. He is also survived by his mother Isabella Browne of Canton and his late father Robert Browne, his sister Roberta Downey of Canton, his brother Robert Kelley of Georgia and the late Martin Kelley of Florida. He is also survived by his wife’s sister, Joan Marie Barra and her husband Frank of Florida. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mark was self employed and owned his own wallpaper and painting business for many years. He was also known for his finish carpentry work which he thoroughly enjoyed. Former member of the Canton Town Club he enjoyed golf, traveling, and cruising. He was captain of Dorchester High Hockey team and his love of hockey continued his entire life coaching boy’s and girl’s ice hockey within the Canton Youth Leagues for many years. In his later years, his greatest love of the game was watching his grandson play hockey. He also coached baseball, softball, and played in the over 30 league in Canton for many years. Over the last 15 years he enjoyed time on his boat, cruising Boston Harbor and the Islands.
Relative and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday 4 – 8 pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Canton Friday morning 10:30. In lieu of flowers donations in Mark’s name can be made to The Amyloid Treatment and Research Program at Boston University School of Medicine Amyloid Research Fund, 72 East Concord Street, K-503 Boston, MA 02118.
