Obituary

Philip W. Holmes, 62, of Derry, NH died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on September 4, 1948, in Gloucester, MA, a son of Donald Holmes and the late Gladys (Bergstrom) Holmes. Mr. Holmes worked for the government for over 30 years, most recently working for nearly 20 years as a director for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. He enjoyed traveling and purchasing, restoring, and tinkering on antique cars. Phil truly loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his father of Florida, he is survived by one daughter, Megan Dube of Derry, two sons, Brennan Holmes of Derry, and Nathan Holmes of Canterbury, NH; three grandchildren, Susan Dube, Olof Holmes, and Ogden Holmes; three brothers, Jim Holmes, Bill Holmes, and Kenneth Holmes; one sister, Donna Creley; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his fiancé Sandy Mannarini, who he was to marry in September.
Calling hours were held on Sunday, July 31, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, August 1, at 10:00am at Holy Cross Parish, 187 Hampstead Road, Derry, NH, with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, NH Affiliate, 249 Canal Street, Manchester, NH 03101 or to the Alzheimer's Association, New Hampshire Office, 5 Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 201, Bedford, NH 03110.
